4Works great, much faster than reverse osmosis systemJun 28, 2003
By Matt
I've been using the Brita faucet mount for 2 years now. Our water is VERY hard, with sulfur smells and rust, and the Brita works as well as our reverse osmosis unit, which has three in-line filters. Plus, it doesn't slow down like the reverse osmosis unit does when using lots of water (family gatherings, etc). It is NOT as fast as normal tap water, so don't go thinking you'll get tap-water speed out of such an intense filter. I have to replace the filter approximately every 2-3 months, depending on usage. Very handy when the r/o unit starts running out of water. I tend to use both the r/o and the Brita when filling a pot for boiling, etc just to make it go faster. I've used both the PUR and Brita, Brita works better on our water, although, for best taste, I also run it through a pitcher filter (as I said, our water is BAD). Tastes better than spring water!

4Good filters, great price -- but the light sometimes stops workingMar 21, 2006
By Beth Rogers
This filter is much easier to use than some other faucet-mount models. Installing the filter system is relatively easy, and replacing filters is even easier. Amazon's price (for filter system as well as replacement filters) is the lowest I could find online or retail, especially when I get "super saver" free shipping. The only problem with my filter system is the green "filter-is-in-use-and-is-working" indicator light occaisionally stops lighting up for a few days at a time, but then works fine again. I'm not sure whether or not this means that the red "time-to-change-filter" light comes on later than it should. But so far it hasn't bothered me enough to call customer service...

5Brita ReviewSep 14, 2005
By H. Bodian
I have been using the Brita Filter for a number of years. It makes the water drinkable from the faucet. I also use it for making tea or coffee. Prior to buying the Filter I had to buy water now I just use water from the filtered faucet. Very good to have.

3Having second thoughtsAug 27, 2011
By Careful buyer
This model of Brita filters are more compact (and stylish) than some other brands. All the brands I tried seemed to work equally well for the purpose. I used this filter over many years and for just drinking/cooking water for a single person, they used to last almost a year. Lately they don't even last 5-6 months. I can't tell if it's the city water or the filters that have gotten worse. I may still buy them if I find at good price but no longer crazy about them.

5I'm not a chemist, but the water tastes better.Nov 22, 2010
By Dick Johnson
We live in a rural area and the water often develops some combination of cloudiness, odor and flavor. We do not want to drink tap water with any of those features.

We have tried the other brands of faucet mounted filters. While none of them, including the Brita, are perfect, we do like the Brita the best. The replacement filters are easy to install and last a comparable amount of time to those of their competitors that we have tried.

We make heavy use of filtered water: drinking, coffee pot, water for tea, etc. adds up to about five gallons a day. Combined with the less than cleanest water to begin with, we change filters more frequently than many - but the advertised 100 gallon mark seems about right.

Do check Amazon's prices for these filters. They change very, very often. Sometimes the two pack is the better deal, sometimes two of the one pack is cheaper. I start checking a few weeks before we're about to run out so I can get lower prices - and the difference can be significant.
