Wireless Printing - At LastAug 27, 2008

After trying several wireless printservers with only marginal success, I finally purchased the LAN Board made specifically for my Multi-Function Printer. I should have done this from the start. Now, after connecting the printer to my wireless router, I can print from my laptop every time.

By The Airbender My MFC-8840D no longer worked through USB after I upgraded my system to Ubuntu. Tried a print server without success. Finally decided to get this card. Installation was easy. Just follow the instructions in the original 8840D manual. Both printer & scanner now work perfectly on my Ubuntu PC. Now my other computers can print & scan via the network while previously with USB connection, remote PCs can only print using shared network, not scan. My printer no longer has to be located close by the PC. On Windows PCs, I had to download Vista software from Brother's web site (download the whole software suite) as Windows 7 driver doesn't seem to work for network printer & scanner. I would highly recommend this for anyone who has multiple PCs.
