This is a fine case and sturdy, not made from cardboard, but not something a determined person couldn't break into with a screw driver either. I got it because I didn't want to buy a whole filing cabinet, but the old cardboard file I had wasn't big enough anymore.
My main beef is that I got the "Ampad Envirotec 100% Recycled Colored Hanging File Folders, Letter Size (8.5 x 11), Assorted Colors" with it, and they were too narrow for the rails. I used some pliers to bend out the rails a bit and they work alright, but it's not optimal. I don't know if this thing is built too wide, or if the folders are too narrow, but one of them is broken.
The lid stays open on its own if you open it all the way (just past 90 degrees).
As for the pockets up at the top, the pen slots are too tight for anything but the skinniest little pens. There is a small pocket that's are good for business cards and ids and a larger one that fits my passport perfectly. Behind them is a larger deep pocket which is hard to get into, the lip of the lid is in the way, however at least things don't fall out of it.

This product works very well for holding confidential information. The lock box has plenty of room, and has room for hanging files. The combination lock is easy to use. I recommend it for securing confidential documents.

Handle and Instructions for Resetting Combination LockJun 01, 2012

We ordered these locked boxes and they are great. Very nice looking and sturdy. The picture doesn't show it, but there's kind of a big handle on top. So it's nice for carrying, but they do not stack very well. So if you want to stack them, you may want to think about that. The handle that I didn't see and the instructions on resetting the lock are the only things that I don't like about this product.
The box comes with this really small piece of paper with instructions on how to reset your lock. I noticed in reviewing this product on Amazon that there were some complaints about not being able to reset the locks and some horror stories told! And I think that's because the instructions are not very clear.
The instructions say to push the button in the direction of the arrow and hold down while you change your combination. So looking at the product, there's an arrow on the button. So I push the button in the direction of the arrow. Well that doesn't work! They are actually referring to the arrow on this small instruction sheet which is the opposite direction. So you actually push the button on the product itself in the opposite direction of the arrow on the box. Resetting the lock works great if you do it right.
I would recommend this to anyone needing a secure file tote. Although, I think I should have gone for the bigger one now! But maybe I'll just go ahead and get another.

This is a great filing organizer for you documents. I personally utilize the Financial Planning Organizer Worksheets inside for superior archiving. If you want to organize your life in a stylish fashion, it's defintely the one to buy

Locks are difficult to rotate the numbers on. Hinges and locks are flimsy: they're really no defense against someone intent on opening it with a screwdriver.
The lid will stand open if the box is standing on a level surface, but it would work better if there were a part to prop the lid open.
The rails for hanging files are slightly too far apart, so that hanging files barely fit on the rails.
This file box is adequate for personal use, but less secure than I had hoped.
