I have tried many different trimmers in this price range, Purples Cows, Fiskars, Making Memories, etc. and this is my favorite. It gives a good clean cut and I find the laser helpful. There is a paper guide and a paper holder which are useful, especially when you need to cut off just a sliver. I have not had it long enough to comment on its longevity but I am thrilled with how it works now.

I must first state that I have used this product for one project and can't comment on the wear and tear. My use involved cutting cardstock for an invitation order (80 invites) and I'm thrilled with the results. Smooth and crisp cuts every time. The laser is a great helper when needing to cut along a keyline. No more guessing where the cut will be made. I do suggest that you test on scraps first because the laser may not be lined up properly. Even if it isn't lined up perfectly, it is an easy fix. I suggest you use a piece of looseleaf paper to help with lining up the laser. The wood base makes this cutter extra sturdy. Overall, I'm pleased and it was worth the money.

This paper cutter is great! You have to be a little bit patient to align the laser, but it is really nice. There is even a place to old down a long piece so that there is pressure on the entire pile.

I was disappointed with the first few cuts that I made with this item. To achieve a nice clean cuts with no slippage ONLY cut 4-6 pages at a time. After adjusting to the limitations I found the laser guided cutting to be very handy and was probably the primary reason for purchase this paper cutter.
I have used it less than 90 days, <30pgs./day and the laser/electronics have failed. I thought it might be the batteries as they did appear to be getting weak. Now the laser will only come on as soon as the batteries are inserted and it does not turn off when the cutting blade is lowered. The laser shuts off in less than one minute and will not come back on unless I remove and reinstall the batteries. When removing the cover to replace batteries the electronics are completely exposed, wires stick out everywhere, very poorly designed.
I am very disappointed. I would not recommend this item to anyone :(

Very flimsy; not recommended for heavy duty useOct 04, 2011

Picked this up with the aim of trimming photos. Although the material is thicker, it's advertised as 12 pages, so thought trimming photos one at a time would be alright.
Not true at all. The assembly of the unit is very flimsy and has noticeable wobble.
Cons:
- Flimsy assembly
- Laser works intermittently
- Handle was not included in box
Would recommend picking up a higher quality unit if you are looking at this one.
