GREAT REPLACEMENT BELTS. 38528-040Jan 11, 2010
By K. Phan If your ordering belts for a old vacuum, you need to know that the part # for the old hoover belts have been changed from 38528040 to 40201190. These belts are the 38528040. 40201190 is just the new part number. They are the same belts. Hope that helps. I had to do a lot of research to figure that out. Changed my belts and my vacuum was as good as new!

Different part number... works great!Mar 07, 2009
By Aileen Whitty My friend gave me her old vacuum because she said she couldn't get belts for it anymore. I did a little research and had to cross reference information from other vendors to find that the part number is different but they still make the belt (38528-027 = 38528-040). I was blessed that on Amazon I could get a 2 pack (again, a different part number 40201190) for such a great price. Belts work perfectly and vendor provided excellent service!!!

It's kind of difficult to really get excited about reviewing this produce. I mean they are only vacuum cleaner belts! However service was good as well as the product. Recommend highly.

Lifesaver!!!Mar 26, 2009
By B. K. Melkote Our vacuum stopped working one day, and my wife was upset about it. I dismantled and found it was a belt. Ordered it from Amazon Marketplace for just 4 bucks. Got 2 bands and now I have a spare as well. The vendor delivered it on time and the part was accurate.

belt replacement and some repair tips for that sucker of yoursFeb 17, 2011
By C. K. Chua It took some searching but as one reviewer mentioned. These belts are the 38528040. 40201190 is just the new part number. While my son was Vacuuming, he happened to snag something that caused the brush to stop. unfortunately, it broke the drive belt. I ordered this belt and it arrived after a few days. i replaced it and started vacuuming, and guess what. i snagged something and broke the belt again!
Good thing it was a two pack. so i sat down and checked why it kept breaking the belts, even a new one and found that the bar that drove the belt had some rust on it and so made it really rough. while this is good for driving the belts, what happens is that everytime the brush stopped spinning while in operation, it stops the belt and the roughage eats thru the belt! the cure is to sand it down with some sand paper and make it smooth again.
so i replaced the belt again and guess what. i snagged something again! this time, while there was some burned rubber smell. the belt held together and i was able to continue vacuuming after a while. So check the drive bar when you replace the belt and make sure its smooth so you dont have to keep buying new belts.
Oh and one other tip, for the bagless hoover vacuum, if you notice that its not sucking as much as it used to, clean the secondary and tertiary air filters. its pretty easy and all you need is a cross/philips screwdriver. it will restore the sucking to like new.
Hope this helps.
