It's just a battery, but the experience has been good...Mar 15, 2008

"O'wai kou i noa?"
What can I say about a replacement battery? It works, and replaces the old, worn 3-year old battery in my RS-800. I'm not having the incessant battery warning alarms from the UPS in the middle of the night anymore... Here are some of my salient observations about this purchase:
Kudos to APC for: 1. Designing the UPS and battery for very easy, tool-free replacement. The entire process took two minutes. 2. Idiot-proof installation. There is only one way to install the battery, and that is the correct way. 3. BIG KUDOS for APC's battery recycling program; they included a postage-paid envelope in the box for returning the old battery so that it didn't end up in a landfill somewhere... I dropped the expired battery off at my office's UPS depot, and that was it - no fuss, no hassle.
BTW, I've not been an APC fan in years past as I've had three or four APC UPS units fail in the past 15 years, but this RS-800 has been a joy to use and is very reliable (keeps my iMac very well fed). Plus my old battery survived for three years before requiring replacement, which is a very reasonable service life. The free battery recycling program was major icing on this cake. APC appears to have won me back as an enthusiastic customer...

Doesn't Work for XS900RJan 11, 2010
By J. Woodward Not sure why Amazon won't accept battery returns based on their return policy of saftey concerns in shipping 'hazardous materials' (afterall was it unsafe when they shipped it to me...so why can't I ship it back to them). You should know Amazon will not accept returns or exchanges on this item. My APC Back-UPS 900 was actually a 900r (you have to read the small type serial number on the bottom rather than looking at the large label on the front of the item. Since mine in the 'r' version it takes the RBC5 battery NOT the RBC32. You wouldn't have known that based on the title of this listing so just be careful.

Came defective and does not hold a charge and can't return/exchange to AmazonMay 25, 2011
By BluePointe Purchased 2 of these directly from Amazon and one works and one does not hold a charge and is DOA. No way to contact Amazon to return/exchange, this is nuts. So I bought a product that absolutely no one is responsible for???

No return shipping lable --> old battery is not recyclable???Mar 08, 2010

I paid ~$15 more than order generic replacement because usually APC replacement battery comes with a UPS return shipping lable so that I can return the used battrey back to the factory in stead of disposing in dumpster and ends up at landfill somewhere. However, the APC replacement battery from Amazon doesn't some with a return shipping lable !!!

Buyer BEWARE! * * * Cannot be returned * * *Dec 24, 2011
By Karl Kaufman Battery failed to charge, in either of my UPSes -- and I find on attempting a return that Amazon does not offer returns for this item. In retrospect, I see, now, that this is mentioned in the product description -- but a little too meekly, in my opinion.
If I could rate it lower, I would -- for the quality of the product shipped, Amazon's inexplicable return policy, and Amazon's less-than-prominent "no return" warning. For items that cannot be returned, Amazon should make this clear during checkout, providing an explicit warning dialog that the customer must accept to continue with the purchase.
Thank you, Amazon! (substitute for "thank" at your discretion)
