Sleek style & excellent qualityFeb 24, 2005

I have the earlier reincarnation of this monitor PL-190M which I have had for about 2 years. I bought it when LCDs used to be very expensive. Mine has not a single bad pixel and I am very happy with it. The response time is one of the fastest. The screen could be a little brighter. What's amazing to me is that despite the fall in prices Planar is continuing to offer a 3-year warranty and free 2-day advance replacement warranty for 3 years. Moreover they'd also replace your monitor if you had more than 3 bad pixels. AFAIK no one else even comes close to Planar's warranty. I haven't used the speakers so I cannot say anything about their quality. I'd buy a Planar monitor in a heart beat.

Planar 19" monitorJun 26, 2008
By Ms. Eddie M. James I really like this monitor. I have one at work and it influenced me to purchase one for home. The monitor is clear, crisp and easy to use. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good quality monitor at a reasonable price.

Nice LCDJun 16, 2006
By Lyuba Really nice LCD panel. This LCD can be used for graphics and other stuff. It's relatively fast and comfortable to use. The quality of the screen is not bad.

Great except...Aug 30, 2008
By S. R. Mackey No problems with this unit except that I couldn't use the existing controls to precisely center the image. It has an auto-centering feature as a push button, but it does not center it well enough for me. It was still worth the ~$200 I spent for it.

Decent Monitor, Hideous SoundJun 05, 2009

I've had this monitor at work for about 1-1/2 years as I write this review. In general, it's more than adequate for general office work and internet access.
I don't think it was intended to be used for visually intensive work. One other review alluded to fuzziness, and I can see that as I write this review. For larger font sizes and thicker fonts, I have not seen it as a problem, but a lot of viewing black Courier New 10 point on white might be a problem.
The menu system is reasonably easy to use once you get into it. The simple (and small!) molded-in symbols are hard to read, especially if one has reduced light around the monitor for better viewing. It supports eight languages if I recall correctly.
The main drawback is the speakers. I was really happy to receive this, thinking that I could finally move my very old and basic Cyber Acoustics MMS-15 speakers off the table and get more work space. Alas, the sound quality of the speakers inside the PL1910M do not meet the standard set by a 1960 Japanese transistor radio...while these are probably adequate for Windows sound effects, it is painful to listen to any music on them, especially in the lower registers (Gerry Mulligan on baritone sax, for example).
I would advise finding a way to mount the monitor just a little below eye level for better ergonomics. Mine is setting on a couple of old C++ books above a laptop shelf, with the base about 10-1/2 inches above the desk. I recommend experimenting with the height until you are comfortable with it.
So, three stars - it's OK if you have no expectations of the sound quality and can control the fonts you use on it.
